Michael’s experience includes conceiving and leading the largest commercial redevelopment in the country at the age of 25, then later founding the real estate investment group EMMES & Company which became one of the largest buyers of distressed real estate securities during the savings and loan crises in the early nineties. He later chaired the Canadian public solar company Carmanah Technologies, which during his tenure increased in value from under $10mm to over $100mm and its stock saw a 7x rise in value. Michael is also the founder and chairman of TIGER 21 the premier global network for high net worth investors who currently manage over $140 billion dollars of personal wealth.

The Goldman-Sonnenfeldt Foundation has been a leader in environmental philanthropy with major commitments in recent years to the Yale Law School Goldman Sonnenfeldt Environmental Protection Clinic, the Goldman Sonnenfeldt School of Sustainability and Climate Change at Ben Gurion University, Earthjustice, on whose board Michael sat for a decade ultimately chairing Earthjustice Action, and more recently the Climate Pathways Initiative at MIT’s Sloan School of Management Sustainability Initiative.
