You hold in your hand the power of the possible. To move away from fossil fuels completely, we'll need new ways to produce heat and electric power for sustained periods of time with no interruptions and no emissions. This means new ways of storing energy for weeks at a time, and new ways of providing energy to industrial processes. MUUS Climate Partners portfolio company Cache Energy is doing both of those things, using the small white pellets inside the cube you’re holding in your hand. Cache created a novel solid fuel technology, which can convert power to heat, store the heat, and release heat or power. If Cache is successful in scaling, the company will be able to replace fossil fuels in industrial processes, provide long duration energy storage to the power grid, and even transform coal and gas plants into renewable energy sites. This is decarbonization in practice. This holiday season, we’re hopeful that Cache, alongside our other portfolio companies, can realize their potential and meaningfully speed up the pathway to zero emissions.
