2023 MUUS Climate Partners Milestones

2023 was a landmark year for MUUS Climate Partners. The close of our Fund II, expansion of our team, and coverage in publications like Forbes, Axios, and Bloomberg, were exciting milestones. But nothing beats the achievements from our portfolio companies. This past year, that included:

-
BrightNight, alongside Rivian and The Nature Conservancy, announced the transformation of the second-largest coal mine in Kentucky into the region’s largest renewable power plant. BrightNight also broke ground on Box Canyon, the largest renewable project in the history of Arizona’s Southwest Public Power Agency. The company was named to LinkedIn’s Top 50 Startups alongside the likes of Ramp and LiquidDeath.

-
Monarch Tractor, the world’s leading electric and self-driving tractor company, delivered its tractors to California, Oregon, and Missouri, after beginning production with Foxconn in Ohio. The company was named to CNBC’s Disruptor 50 List and Forbes’ Next Billion-Dollar Startups.

-
Harvest, the world’s most climate-friendly home heating system, won awards from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and was named to Fast Company’s list of Most Innovative Companies of 2023.

-
Utilidata announced a Michigan-based manufacturing partnership, as well as the launch of its NVIDIA-enabled AI platform Karman. Utilidata was mentioned on Portland General Electric’s earnings call as a key technology partner to enable a smart grid.

- Energetic Insurance became
Energetic Capital, with an expanded offering of financial products to accelerate the energy transition.

-
Cache Energy became a partner of Halliburton Labs to advance its low-cost zero-emissions solid fuel technology.

-
RailVision Analytics proved that its AI-enabled program can create significant fuel savings in the locomotive space, in its partnership with VIA Rail Canada.

-
Amperon, Nth Cycle, and Divergent closed significant growth rounds of $20 million, $44 million, and $230 million, respectively.

-
Panthalassa came out of stealth mode, but we still can’t say much about it yet…

We can’t wait for what 2024 will bring. We wish everyone a happy and healthy new year, and above all we hope the world will continue to mobilize to address climate change - the biggest problem of our time, but also the biggest opportunity.
